Card of the Boran Child of God from the 1967/8 Vanishing Africa collection. Originally printed circa 1971 for the release of Vanishing Africa. Only a few remain in the archive. “This child is considered not like the others, and is a descendant of either a witch doctor or some member of the tribe who has healed sick people by special powers bestowed on him by “God”. The first born child is meant to inherit these powers and sick people come to touch it with the firm belief that they will be cured. The hair is never cut and grows into a mass of tangled strands. The child is revered from the moment of its birth, and nothing is ever done to anger or upset it.” Vanishing Africa, 1971 pg. 65. Mirella Ricciardi
